Happy New Year 3rd Beall families! I hope everyone had a great holiday break! It is excited to have everyone back on campus for January Term. The students get to spend time focusing on different activies and classes and often have more free time, so it is an especailly fun time on campus and I can't wait to hear about everyone's J-Terms as they learn new things.
Use the menu below to navigate quickly through the contents of this month's update:
J-Term was definitely a little different this year with all of our wintery weather. We had almost a full hall for the first term, and took advantage of this with programs like Hide and Seek, Grilled Cheese night, and multiple trips off campus to thrift stores, the mall, and some favorite food destinations.
11 of our 3rd Beallians had an off-campus J-term this year. We started off our "Junior Term" strong with some fun activities that got the kids talking (and arguing) during Whould-You-Rather" and Trivia Night, and prepped for the cold with some more food runs and a ramen night. We spend our last week on campus with only 6 3rd Beallians on hall. It was definitely a wierd time on campus, but those of us who stayed made sure to make the most of it!
I can't wait to hear more J-Term stories from our travellers, and maybe also some snow stories from everyone who left during the storm. See you all in February after the next snow.

The Senior Leadership Campus Service (SLCS) selection process is underway! Over twenty different assignments participate in this process which should help juniors find a senior campus service assignment they’re excited about. An overview of the process and the various positions can be found on the site. Please note that the SLCS process does not account for every senior campus service assignment. There are many opportunities for leadership in campus service to consider. Juniors should reach out to any employees that they may be interested in working with next year.
We had a sucessful hall program at the beginning of January that allowed our Juniors to speak with the Seniors on hall about thier leadership positions, but I recommend that they continue to look to Seniors for advice for any specific SLCS that they are interested in.
Applications are due on Wednesday, so Juniors, make sure you have opened up your applications to make sure you can access everything. I recommend getting your essay responses drafted or finished over extended!
Just a quick reminder that the Residence Halls will be closing on Thursday, February 26th at 5:00pm. Halls will reopen on Sunday, March 1st at noon.
Students will submit an Overnight pass on Orah before or during our hall meeting right before the Extended Weekend. On this Orah pass, they indicate where they are going for the break, who they are traveling with, and how they are getting to their destination. If students have specific questions about checkout procedures for the Extended Weekend, they should speak to me.
